Baseball Game Preview: Calexico Bulldogs vs. San Diego Cavers

The Calexico Bulldogs will head out to square off against the San Diego Cavers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Calexico's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so San Diego's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Calexico's victory against Brawley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Calexico had just enough and edged out Brawley 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Randy Baez was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Calderon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, San Diego's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of University City by a score of 8-7.

Calexico pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for San Diego, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Calexico took their win against San Diego when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 15-6. Does Calexico have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Diego turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
