Softball Recap: Richmond Takes a Loss

Richmond blew Old Orchard Beach out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Old Orchard Beach got their revenge. The Bobcats fell just short of the Seagulls by a score of 12-10. Even though they lost, the Bobcats' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Breonna Dufresne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Kaelyn Brillant was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Richmond is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. As for Old Orchard Beach, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Looking ahead, Richmond will take on Vinalhaven at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. Old Orchard Beach will be paying especially close attention to Richmond's match: after Richmond faces off against Wiscasset, they'll take on Old Orchard Beach again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
