Preview: Perry-Lecompton Kaws vs. Wellsville Eagles
The Perry-Lecompton Kaws will head out on the road to face off against the Wellsville Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Perry-Lecompton came up short against Royal Valley and fell 23-14. Perry-Lecompton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Perry-Lecompton had strong showings from Bronzen Rush, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and Tristan Gorden, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown. Rush really tore up the turf during one magnificent 89-yard run.
Meanwhile, Wellsville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Baldwin, posting a 42-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Wellsville, who have now won seven matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Wellsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was William Dorsey out in front who threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns. Dezmond Winton also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Wellsville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Wyatt Brungardt and his two sacks.
Perry-Lecompton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Wellsville, their win was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Everything came up roses for Perry-Lecompton against Wellsville when the teams last played back in September of 2019 as the team secured a 49-6 win. Will Perry-Lecompton repeat their success, or does Wellsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
