Softball Recap: Jonathan Alder Comes Up Short

Jonathan Alder had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 11-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Kenton Ridge Cougars, falling 17-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pioneers of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Kenton Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 23-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Kenton Ridge's part, Ivee Rastatter was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rastatter has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, JJ Davis and Brenna Fyffe did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Fyffe went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Fyffe is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Chloe Glass, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Coming up, Jonathan Alder will square off against Tecumseh at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Kenton Ridge will be paying especially close attention to the Pioneers' contest: after the Pioneers face off against the Arrows, they'll take on Kenton Ridge again at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
