Football Recap: Escambia Gators vs. West Florida Jaguars
Escambia had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by the West Florida Jaguars on the road to the tune of 45-12. That's more bragging rights for the Gators, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
The critical scores for Escambia came from Mason Moore, Nino Freeman, and Dorrion White.
Escambia wouldn't let West Florida keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Escambia can thank D Jaylan Benjamin and Ladarian Clardy for forcing both of them. Benjamin's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making two total tackles. Escambia got some further help from Justus Payne: he made 13 total tackles.
Escambia will square off against Niceville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Florida, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Booker T. Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
