Softball Recap: Aquinas Takes a Loss

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Aquinas nor David Anderson made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Knights took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The defeat leaves the Knights still looking for their first win of the season.

Jocelyn Powell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aquinas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaida Mohr-Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Jiana Mohr-Roberts also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for David Anderson, their record now sits at 5-10.

Aquinas didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 26-1 defeat against Lake Center Christian on the 21st. As for David Anderson, they have also already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Chaney on the 19th.
