Baseball Game Preview: Grafton Black Hawks vs. Campbellsport Cougars

The Grafton Black Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Campbellsport Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Grafton was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They never let Whitefish Bay get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

The team relied heavily on Zachary Plier, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Campbellsport waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Foxes with a sharp 7-1 victory.

Braden Bothe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kyler Bowe was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Zach Zimdahl was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Campbellsport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Grafton's record is now 11-6. As for Campbellsport, their record now sits at 14-3-1.

Grafton couldn't quite finish off Campbellsport in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Black Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
