Basketball Preview: Northern Patriots vs. Chopticon Braves
Northern is 1-9 against the Braves since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Northern Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Chopticon Braves at 6:30 p.m. Northern is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Northern proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 24) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Thomas Stone 41-38.
Northern can attribute much of their success to Makayla Marvray, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Haley Longfellow, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Marvray hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Chopticon beat the Chargers 44-39 on Friday. The win was just what Chopticon needed coming off of a 54-17 loss in their prior match.
Northern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Chopticon, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
Everything came up roses for Northern against the Braves in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 61-34 victory. Does Northern have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
