Baseball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Bears vs. Tohopekaliga Tigers

The Cypress Creek Bears will challenge the Tohopekaliga Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cypress Creek has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Tohopekaliga will arrive with five straight wins.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Cypress Creek's offense. They lost 6-0 to Celebration on Thursday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Tohopekaliga got the win against Cornerstone Charter Academy on Friday by a conclusive 15-5. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Tohopekaliga got a massive performance out of Fernando Ferrer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Ferrer has posted since back in February of 2024. Samuel Isturiz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Tohopekaliga pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Cypress Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16.

Cypress Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Tohopekaliga when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
