Soccer Game Preview: Sumter vs. Spring Valley

Sumter is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Spring Valley Vikings at 7:30 p.m.

Sumter came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Summerville. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Gamecocks struggled afterwards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spring Valley). They blew past Hammond 4-1 on Friday. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 2.7 goals per game.

They hit Hammond with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Bryan Lee (2), Kaden Eduoard, and Christian Holroyd.

Spring Valley's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Sumter, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Sumter suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Spring Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sumter was down 10-1.
