Recap: Marian Mustangs vs. Oxford Wildcats
After a string of three wins, the Marian Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oxford. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Marian of the 57-46 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.
Marian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charlie Bingham, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Swanson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Oxford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Marian on the road again on Wednesday and play against Central Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th. As for Oxford, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Stoney Creek at 7:00 p.m. Stoney Creek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Oxford in Michigan (Stoney Creek is ranked 12th, while Oxford is ranked 91st).
