Volleyball Recap: Pungo Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Pungo Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Ridgecroft Rams, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

While Pungo Christian Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Ridgecroft's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-7, 25-21.

Aubrey Moss paced Pungo Christian Academy's offense, picking up two kills. Moss got some help from Henly Gibbs and her three assists. Gibbs also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with AvaHaiyes Cox, racking up two apiece.

Leading Ridgecroft to victory were Aubrey Stephenson and Klaire Cherry. Stephenson had five aces, while Cherry hit 70% for seven kills and four aces. The last time Cherry's hitting percentage was this high was back in September of 2024.

Pungo Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Ridgecroft, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pungo Christian Academy will take on rival Northeast Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ridgecroft is set to square off against their familiar foe Halifax Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
