Perry Central is 9-1 against South Spencer since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Commodores will venture away from home to face off against the Rebels at 5:30 p.m. South Spencer took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Perry Central, who comes in off a win.
Perry Central proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Boonville, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Commodores have posted since August 30th.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Perry Central who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 17-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, South Spencer lost 3-0 to Southridge on Thursday. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
South Spencer was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-17.
Perry Central will have to contain Kendall Lloyd as she made an impact in South Spencer's last game. She had 19 digs and two aces. Lloyd has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Macy Southwood, who had 16 assists and nine digs.
South Spencer's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Perry Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Perry Central beat South Spencer 2-0 when the teams last played back in September. Will the Commodores repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
