Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Christian Couriers vs. Portage Christian

Having just played yesterday, the Clinton Christian Couriers will get right back to it and host Portage Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clinton Christian will be strutting in after a win while Portage Christian will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Clinton Christian escaped with a win against Harlan Christian by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53.

Clinton Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayden Lower led the charge by putting up 18 points and seven rebounds. What's more, Lower also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Anthony Snyder was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points and six boards.

Clinton Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Portage Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 32nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Trinity Greenlawn, falling 59-13.

Portage Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Clinton Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Clinton Christian strolled past Portage Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2018 by a score of 68-53. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Portage Christian's Noble Dennie, who went 6 of 7 en route to 18 points and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for Clinton Christian to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
