Soccer Game Preview: Luther Prep vs. Mayville

The Luther Prep Phoenix will head out on the road to square off against the Mayville Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mayville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Luther Prep, who comes in off a win.

Luther Prep had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Tuesday. The Phoenix never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Luther Prep haven't had any issues with Jefferson recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Mayville fell victim to Kohler and their airtight defense on Saturday. They came up short against the Blue Bombers, falling 7-0. Mayville have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mayville's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Luther Prep, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Luther Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Mayville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
