Soccer Recap: Del Rio Comes Up Short

Del Rio was the 2-1 winner over Eagle Pass when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Eagle Pass Eagles who were credited with the win on Tuesday. The Eagle Pass Eagles got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Del Rio Rams' two. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rams came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Eagles are ranked 210th).

Del Rio moved to 13-4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matches. As for Eagle Pass, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season.
