The Strawberry Crest Chargers will square off against the Plant Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Strawberry Crest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Strawberry Crest's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They skirted past Riverview 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chargers have posted since April 19, 2024.
The result came thanks to Katelyn Watts's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Strawberry Crest's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Cater, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Plant won against Wharton on Saturday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Plant put the hurt on Academy of the Holy Names with a sharp 11-4 win. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Gigi Cozzens looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate Compton, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Medina, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.
Plant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Plant's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Strawberry Crest, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Strawberry Crest came out on top in a nail-biter against Plant when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Strawberry Crest repeat their success, or does Plant have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
