Softball Recap: Shawnee Redskins vs. Egyptian Pharaohs

Shawnee barely beat Egyptian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redskins put the hurt on the Pharaohs with a sharp 14-1 victory on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Redskins' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Lillie Griffin made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Shawnee got a massive performance out of Madalyn Schuster, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Shawnee's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Egyptian, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

Shawnee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Egyptian, they will challenge Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.69 runs per game on average), something the Pharaohs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
