Basketball Recap: Akron Tigers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Akron Tigers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 62-55 to Notre Dame on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jaden Sherwood was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Notre Dame. Jay Antinore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven steals and six assists.
Akron's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Notre Dame, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Akron's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Royalton-Hartland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 674th, while the Tigers are ranked 297th). As for Notre Dame, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Elba is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
