Baseball Game Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Nipomo Titans

Orcutt Academy hasn't had much luck against Nipomo recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Orcutt Academy Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Nipomo Titans at 4:30 p.m. Nipomo took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Orcutt Academy, who comes in off a win.

Orcutt Academy took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Valley Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Orcutt Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Valley Christian Academy on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Lions on their field since March 12, 2022.

Joshua Chambers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Chambers wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ian Brady, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Brady also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Nipomo was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 8-1 to Atascadero. The Titans have struggled against the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Nipomo also got a good showing from Dylan Hill, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Nipomo's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Orcutt Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Orcutt Academy might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Nipomo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Orcutt Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
