Basketball Recap: Las Vegas Sets Scoring Season-High Against George Washington Prep

Las Vegas scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the George Washington Prep Generals. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 60th in Nevada, while the Generals are ranked 330th in California).

Despite the loss, Las Vegas saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sariyah Johnson almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 21 boards. Those 21 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Johnson.

Las Vegas has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for George Washington Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Las Vegas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Needles on the 26th. As for George Washington Prep, they will face off against Arleta at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
