Softball Recap: Caroline Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caroline). They put the hurt on the James Monroe Yellow Jackets with a sharp 21-3 win on Tuesday. The Cavaliers have beaten the Yellow Jackets the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Yellow Jackets has come to flipping the script.

Ava Anderson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Nya Howard was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Caroline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Caroline's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for James Monroe, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Caroline will take on rival Spotsylvania at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cavaliers 1.8, the Knights 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, James Monroe is set to challenge their familiar foe Chancellor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
