Softball Recap: Dexter Bearcats vs. Malden Green Wave        
        
		
            
 Sadly, Dexter is still looking for their first win of the season after four  matchups. Their  tough  19-2 loss to the Malden Green Wave  on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dexter of the  5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
 For Malden's part,  Alyssa Broom was a major factor no matter where she played. She  struck out eight batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits (and only one walk). Broom has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Broom was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 4-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Carsyn Cohen and  Addi Buchanan did most of the damage at the plate:  Cohen  went 3-for-3 with three  stolen bases, three  runs,  and three  RBI, while  Buchanan  went 3-for-3 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and two  doubles. Another player making a difference was  Emma Elmore, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
 Dexter's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Malden, their victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 5-6.
 Dexter will be playing at home against Puxico at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Dexter is facing Puxico at the right time seeing as Puxico is stuck on  a  three-game losing streak. As for Malden, they will head out on the road to  take on  Woodland at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Malden is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 9.5  runs per game this season.
