Baseball Recap: Springboro Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

After only one run in their last game, Springboro made sure to put some runs up on the board against Troy on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacob Rhinehart tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nick Hutchinson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Micah Brandon, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Springboro is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Troy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springboro will take on Arcanum at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.5, the Trojans 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Troy, they will challenge Miamisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
