Soccer Recap: Sterling Takes a Loss

Sterling came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Dixon Dukes & Duchesses, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Sterling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Dixon are ranked 173rd).

Sterling dropped their record down to 4-18 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Dixon, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season.

Sterling wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 7-0 loss against Ottawa on the 15th. As for Dixon, they have also already played their next game, a 5-0 defeat against Sycamore on the 15th.
