Baseball Game Preview: West Las Vegas Dons vs. Espanola Valley Sundevils

The West Las Vegas Dons will face off against the Espanola Valley Sundevils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Espanola Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Las Vegas, who comes in off a win.

West Las Vegas is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They blew past Pecos 15-4. The win continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Daniel Bustamante and Jeremiah Ortega did most of the damage at the plate: Bustamante scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances, while Ortega scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Bustamante a new career-high in stolen bases. Javi Montoya was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

West Las Vegas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pecos only posted a batting average of .143.

Meanwhile, Espanola Valley fell victim to Santa Fe Indian and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to the Braves. The Sundevils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Everything went West Las Vegas' way against Espanola Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as West Las Vegas made off with a 13-3 victory. Will West Las Vegas repeat their success, or does Espanola Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
