Baseball Game Preview: Rockport Vikings vs. Manchester Essex Hornets

The Rockport Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Manchester Essex Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Rockport's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five contests, but Monday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Rockport's offense. They came up short against Hamilton-Wenham Regional on Thursday, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Manchester Essex had just enough and edged out Ipswich 3-1 on Thursday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Manchester Essex's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Rockport, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Rockport was able to grind out a solid victory over Manchester Essex when the teams last played back in April, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
