Baseball Game Preview: Meek Tigers vs. Belgreen Bulldogs

The Meek Tigers will challenge the Belgreen Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meek has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Thursday, Meek came up short against Curry and fell 18-15.

Evan McCay was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Conner Lane made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Mason Powe was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Meek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Belgreen's offense. They fell 5-0 to Addison on Monday. It was the first time this season that Belgreen let down their fans at home.

Meek's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Belgreen, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Meek took their win against Belgreen in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 12-5. Does Meek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Belgreen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
