Basketball Game Preview: Powers Catholic Chargers vs. Heritage Hawks

The Powers Catholic Chargers will square off against the Heritage Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Powers Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 games -- so hopefully Heritage likes a good challenge.

Powers Catholic is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Midland: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Powers Catholic blew Midland out of the water with a 77-37 final score. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Powers Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesse Cull, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points. Breckin Cicalo was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Meanwhile, everything went Heritage's way against Davison on Tuesday as Heritage made off with a 64-43 victory. The Hawks have beaten the Cardinals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cardinals has come to flipping the script.

Powers Catholic's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Powers Catholic was dealt a bruising 80-40 loss at the hands of Heritage in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Powers Catholic was down 53-24.
