Softball Recap: St. Anthony's Makes It 22 in a Row at Home

St. Anthony had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They never let the Xaverian Clippers get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Friars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Melissa Gordon, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Xaverian off the board. Gordon has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Juli Murillo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Gabriella King was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

St. Anthony's pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Xaverian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Anthony's will host Morris at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Xaverian, they will welcome Moore Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
