Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Omaha North

Omaha North hadn't done well against Burke recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Bulldogs last Monday, they had to take a 6-1 defeat.

Chance Kinman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Omaha North saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Markham, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

The win was the fourth in a row for Omaha North, bringing their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Burke, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Omaha North will host Omaha Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burke, they have already played their next matchup, a 14-0 win against Buena Vista on the 4th.
