Basketball Game Preview: Severn School Admirals vs. Notre Dame Prep

The Severn School Admirals will take on Notre Dame Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Severn School is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Last Monday, everything came up roses for Severn School against North County as the team secured a 50-7 win. The match marked the Admirals' most dominant victory of the season.

Severn School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amyah Heyliger, who posted 15 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Heyliger continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Ripley, who scored six points in addition to 11 boards and five steals.

While Notre Dame Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 38-33 win over Bryn Mawr on Monday. Given Notre Dame Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Bryn Mawr is ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Severn School's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.7 points per game. As for Notre Dame Prep, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
