Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Christian Knights vs. Covenant Day Lions

Charlotte Christian and Covenant Day are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Charlotte Christian Knights will host the Covenant Day Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Charlotte Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

Charlotte Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Charlotte Latin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 81-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (62), the Knights still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Covenant Day lost to Providence Day at home by a 67-53 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Chargers are ranked fourth).

Covenant Day has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Charlotte Christian, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-15.

Charlotte Christian might still be hurting after the 71-47 loss they got from Covenant Day in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Charlotte Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
