Basketball Recap: J.Z. George Takes a Loss

J.Z. George was the 51-48 winner over Calhoun City when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The J.Z. George Jaguars fell 68-56 to the Calhoun City Wildcats on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Wildcats are ranked 79th).

J.Z. George's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Calhoun City, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

When J.Z. George and Calhoun City next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. J.Z. George will try to stop Edwards' three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Calhoun City will face off against Albertville and their six-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
