Perry is 8-2 against Geneva since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Pirates will take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Perry took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Edgewood. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.
Sophie Sivon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Elise Strahan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Rosalyn Tharp, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Perry lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Geneva won against Lakeside on Monday with 21 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Eagles beat Edgewood by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 21-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Like Perry, Geneva also got a great game from a two-way player: Caidyn Siegel. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Siegel was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Geneva got a massive performance out of Addie Sheppard, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Claire Cafaro was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Perry is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Geneva, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Perry couldn't quite get it done against Geneva in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-11. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
