The Penn Cambria Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Penn Cambria has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Penn Cambria needed a bit of extra time to put away Chestnut Ridge. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Ryan Hanlon was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hanlon was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Caden Gibbons was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Westmont Hilltop waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Hilltoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Like Penn Cambria, Westmont Hilltop also got a great game from a two-way player: Brady Gartner. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Gartner was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Goodman, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Justin Ray was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Penn Cambria pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average this season. As for Westmont Hilltop, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Penn Cambria took their victory against Westmont Hilltop in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
