Football Recap: Buckholts Comes Up Short

If Buckholts was feeling good fresh off their 38-15 takedown of Mullin last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Badgers were outmatched by the Hill County Wolves and fell 54-22. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Badgers of the 50-38 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Joseph Hansen-Blum threw for 96 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Jaxson Sliger was his top target, picking up 65 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. On the ground, Miguel Hernandez rushed for 81 yards on only eight carries.

It was another big night for Tristan Knight, who rushed for 364 yards and five scores on only 14 carries for Hill County. Knight's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. William O'Daniel was in the mix as well, providing Hill County with one touchdown.

Buckholts' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Hill County, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckholts will face off against Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hill County, they will take on Stephenville FAITH at 7:30 p.m. on the 27th. This will be the Wolves' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
