Basketball Recap: Newman International Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Harmony School of Innovation Fort Worth on Monday, Newman International Academy came back down to earth. The Newman International Academy Warriors took a blow against the Trinity Christian Eagles on Tuesday, falling 78-44. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Newman International Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayden Pillow, who posted 24 points. The dominant performance gave Pillow a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Miranda, who put up 15 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Newman International Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Newman International Academy now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Trinity Christian, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newman International Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Community Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Trinity Christian, they will take on Christian Heritage in a tournament on December 26th.
