Softball Recap: Lake Weir Comes Up Short

After flying high against North Marion last Thursday, Lake Weir came back down to earth. The Hurricanes fell 9-4 to the Vanguard Knights on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost eight in a row.

Lake Weir saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was G Weidenbacher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Allison Eason was another, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base.

Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Vanguard, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Lake Weir will be playing in front of their home fans against Dunnellon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vanguard, they will head out to challenge The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
