Baseball Recap: Maplewood Victorious

Maplewood won the last time they faced Cambridge Springs and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Devils. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Kyle Jordan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Jordan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Chase Koelle was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Maplewood is undefeated when Koelle posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Garrett Brucker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Maplewood's record is now 9-6. As for Cambridge Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season.

Maplewood will face off against Mercyhurst Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Lakers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Cambridge Springs, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-4 win against Jamestown on the 7th.
