Baseball Game Preview: Northstar Christian Academy Knights vs. Oakfield-Alabama Hornets

The Northstar Christian Academy Knights will head out on the road to take on the Oakfield-Alabama Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Northstar Christian Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Notre Dame. They had just enough and edged out the Fighting Irish 3-1.

Meanwhile, Oakfield-Alabama got the win against Caledonia-Mumford on Monday by a conclusive 10-1. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won four in a row.

Hunter Tobolski and Avery Watterson were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Tobolski pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Watterson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tobolski has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Tobolski went 1-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Watterson went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Oakfield-Alabama is 5-2 when Watterson posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Levi Kabel was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Schnaufer, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Oakfield-Alabama kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Northstar Christian Academy's record is now 5-8. As for Oakfield-Alabama, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
