Softball Game Preview: Glencoe Crimson Tide vs. Forest Grove Vikings

The Glencoe Crimson Tide will head out to face off against the Forest Grove Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Glencoe's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Forest Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Glencoe's victory against Century wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Crimson Tide sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Jaguars on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Crimson Tide in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won six in a row.

Lexi Brester spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Glencoe's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Makena Petrick, who went 1-for-4 with one triple. That triple was Petrick's first of the season.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Forest Grove made sure to put some runs up on the board against Liberty on Wednesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Forest Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Glencoe, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5.
