Preview: Sparta Academy Warriors vs. Clarke Prep Gators
Sparta Academy and Clarke Prep are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Sparta Academy Warriors just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Clarke Prep Gators at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Sparta Academy and ten for Clarke Prep dating back to last season.
Sparta Academy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Pickens Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Logan Robinson, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Sam Cook was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Clarke Prep was beaten by Morgan Academy 66-28 on December 11th. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clarke Prep in their matchups with Morgan Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Sparta Academy bumped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Clarke Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Sparta Academy strolled past Clarke Prep in their previous meeting back in November by a score of 52-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sparta Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
