Softball Recap: Rigby Takes a Loss

Rigby had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-12 to make it six. They came up short against the Thunder Ridge Titans, falling 12-1. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Rigby saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Bishop, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Thunder Ridge, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 15-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Thunder Ridge's side, they got a great performance from Carly Jones as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Jones has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Giulia Johns was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsea Adams, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rigby will head out to square off against Pocatello at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Thunder Ridge, they will venture away from home to take on Highland at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
