Softball Recap: Portage Indians vs. La Porte Slicers
Portage lost against La Porte back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Portage Indians lost 16-8 to the La Porte Slicers.
Cora Kingrey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Miley Prance, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI.
Even though they lost, Portage didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with nine strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.
On La Porte's side, Shayla Sorg and Reghan Stephany did most of the damage at the plate: Sorg went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs, while Stephany scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Stephany has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Jersey Worthington was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
