Softball Game Preview: Elmwood Park Tigers vs. DePaul College Prep Rams

The Elmwood Park Tigers will challenge the DePaul College Prep Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Elmwood Park has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while DePaul College Prep will arrive with four straight wins.

On Thursday, Elmwood Park came up short against West Aurora and fell 8-5.

Elmwood Park saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Serrano-LeFevour, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, DePaul College Prep hadn't done well against Aurora Central Catholic recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rams came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chargers, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since April 15th.

Lauren Steele made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Elmwood Park's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for DePaul College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-18.

Elmwood Park was able to grind out a solid victory over DePaul College Prep in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 7-2. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
