Softball Game Preview: Julian Eagles vs. Warner Wildcats

The Julian Eagles will face off against the Warner Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Julian has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Julian couldn't beat Calipatria on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Eagles lost 21-7 to the Hornets. The Eagles have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Lily Betts was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Warner earned a 9-5 win over Borrego Springs on Tuesday.

Warner is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Julian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Julian beat Warner 15-11 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
