Centennial strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against the Independence Falcons as they made off with a 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Hawks, who have now won three contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Brynlee George tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Centennial got a massive performance out of Abby Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Jackson a new career-high. Lundyn Harrison was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Centennial's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Independence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-3-1.
Looking ahead, Centennial will take on Clovis East in a tournament on Monday. As for Independence, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
