Basketball Recap: Magnolia West Comes Up Short

Magnolia West lost against Kingwood Park back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Magnolia West Mustangs took a hard 57-43 fall against the Kingwood Park Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1224th, while the Panthers are ranked 454th).

Despite the loss, Magnolia West still got an impressive performance from Jayden Zinn, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most steals Zinn has posted since back in November. The team also got some help courtesy of Junior Alonso, who posted seven points.

Magnolia West dropped their record down to 4-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Kingwood Park, they moved to 9-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Magnolia West will square off against Klein at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kingwood Park, they will take on Alief Hastings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
