Softball Recap: Albany Falcons vs. Guilderland Flying Dutchmen
Albany extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen. The Falcons were not able to make up for their loss to the Flying Dutchmen from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Guilderland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
For Guilderland's part, Leah Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Guilderland got a massive performance out of Alyssa Griffin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that Griffin has hit this season. Grace Neville was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albany will take on Maple Hill at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Guilderland, they will face off against Whitesboro at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
